Mike was recruited by Tom Clemens to join The Northwestern Mutual Financial Network/The Hempstead Group while attending Notre Dame. Following graduation, his Dad accompanied him when he moved to St. Louis where he knew no one. After meeting with the financial representatives and staff in our organization, Mike's Dad was confident he would succeed in this career.
Like most sales representatives moving into a new area, Mike struck out on his own, volunteering as a fireman, volunteering at DeSmet, and "volunteering" with Northwestern Mutual. Back then, it was commission only.
He had solid values, a strong faith and cared deeply about his "careers" and those with whom he was associated.
Mike was very conscientious in working with his clients. It was very important to him to make certain that the products he recommended best met the needs of each client.
There was no question that Mike's passion was lacrosse but he very capably balanced his lacrosee career and his career with Northwestern Mutual, and excelled in both.
When you lose someone like Mike, a little "heart" of the organization is also lost. We will deeply miss Mike.
